Knowing when to upgrade capacity
Hello,
Trying to gauge upgrading capacities based on other people's experiences.
Our P1 Capacity hits 100% probably 2-3 times per day, sometimes it's a noticeable pattern, sometimes I don't understand it at all (like 9 p.m. at night when there are 0 refreshes and I'd expect 99% of Users to hopefully not be working).
Our largest Dataset is 1.9 gb pbix, which according to the recommendation, < 3 gb is still okay for P1.
Should I upgrade? Should I go for enable Auto Scale?
I just don't know how normal it is to peak 100% several times a day, let me know. Thank you

Hi cassidy
Could you have a look at upgrading your P1 capacity to Gen2?
The reason is that this could assist greatly with the performance of your P1 capacity. Here are more details: Understanding Power BI Premium Gen2 (preview) - Power BI | Microsoft Docs

Hi Gilbert, I did switch it to Gen2 a while back. Our refresh times decreased, but I haven't seen a decrease in hitting capacity. The Utilization Metrics points to a few users with high Query utilization, so I'm working with them.
