Key Influencers Visual: 'Certain Filters in your visual are not supported.' - Error
Hi all,
I’m seeing a new error in the Key Influencers visual:
"Certain filters are not supported"
This wasn’t happening before—filtering worked fine, and the visual still works with other calculated measures. Has anyone else run into this recently and found a fix?
Thanks in advance!
Hi V-yubandi-msft ,
Thank you for following up! Yes, after reviewing the filters on both the dataframes and the visual, simplifying them as much as possible seems to have resolved the issue.

Hi YemiAkj10
The “Certain filters are not supported” error in the Key Influencers visual often pops up when there's a conflict between the filters applied and the structure of the data or measures being used. Here are couple suggestions to get it solved:
Remove complex calculated measures or columns used as filters
Avoid slicers on disconnected tables or many-to-many relationships
Simplify or remove recently added filters or slicers
- Recreate the Key Influencers visual if needed
Did it work? 👍 A kudos would be appreciated

Hi @DataVitalize Thank you for this advice. I currently do not have any many to many relationships in my schema. The only filters i have activated are filters for all pages so adjusting this will adjust multiple pages in the dashboard. i intend on creating a denormalized table housing the necessary columns and create calculated columns instead of calculated measures. I will keep you updated with my progress. Thank you again!

Hi YemiAkj10 ,
Thank you for mentioning this in community , and thanks to DataVitalizer , for providing those useful tips.
To add some context, this error usually appears when the Key Influencers visual has difficulty processing certain filters or model setups.
Here are a few steps you can try to resolve it
- Avoid using calculated columns or measures as filters. Plain, categorical fields tend to work better.
- Be cautious with disconnected tables or many to many relationships, as these can cause issues for the visual.
- Consider simplifying or removing recently added slicers or filters, especially if they include complex logic.
- Rebuilding the visual from scratch with a simpler set of fields can sometimes resolve hidden problems.
- If you are using DirectQuery or composite models, remember they have specific filter limitations. Testing with Import mode may help identify the issue.

Hello YemiAkj10 ,
The Key Influencers visual works best with categorical fields and simple model structures. Applying filters across all pages, particularly those with calculated measures or indirect relationships, can add complexity that may be difficult for the visual to interpret. Using direct categorical columns and simplifying the model can help improve its reliability and performance.

Yugandhar.
