How to update Power BI reports on workspace

    1) Short answer - No 

    The Power BI Serviceruns on its own stable updated version, independent of what version of Power BI Desktop you are using. There is no versioning at the workspace level. If you use new features only available in the latest Desktop version you will be able to publish it but users with older Desktop versions might get errors if they try to open or edit that pbix file.

    2) Sometimes issues can occur, but rarely like when there are deprecated features (very rare) or you are using preview features that changed drastically. You can open the pbix file in the new version and check for errors.

You will be fine publishing with various versions. There is internal metadata to indicate what version the report was created with. For the semantic model there is a combatability level. The newer version will be backwards compatible, but if you open a report create with a newer version with a older version of power bi desktop, it may not be happy if you are using newer features
