How to connect my local datasource(SQLServer) with PowerBI Service?

Hi everyone,

I would like your help a lot. Indeed I am in a situation a little complicated so I do not know how to go about it.

Let me explain:
I am designing reports and dashboards with SageX3 database as data source running locally only.

Infos: My local server has internet access.

Question: How do I directly connect my dashboards on PowerBI Service with this local database? Is this possible? If so how do I proceed.

Sincerely,

Power BI service lives on the cloud, so it has no means to access your local sources by default. What you'll need to do is download the Power BI Gateway (link is available in PBI Service) and have it installed either on your local machine or server depending on how everything is configured. Once you configure the gateway, you'll be able to access it on PBI Service and set up a DB connection. That connection can then be used for any datasets that need it. Do keep in mind that if you have multiple DBs, they'll all need individual connections.
