How do I manage regional data gateways?
I am trying very hard to manage a gateway I put in another region. I just can't figure it out. The documentation is just a disaster when it comes to logic.
I'm in the power platform admin center and I can see the gateway and region.
I need to create a datasource. I need to be able to delete one. I need to be able to add stuff to it and I just can't reach it. I don't know how.
I can see my US tenant ones no issue.

For Power BI, gateways are tied to the tenant region, so a gateway created in another region will not be visible or usable there.
For Power Apps, gateways are tied to the environment and its region. As long as the environment and gateway are in the same region, you can use it.
Regarding your question on managing connections, this is done at the environment level. You would need to switch to the environment where the gateway exists. From there you can create and manage data sources, assign users, and remove them if needed. These actions are not done globally and will not show up outside that environment.
On licensing, you do not need anything specific just to view the gateway. However, creating and using connections can require appropriate Power Apps licensing depending on the connector you are using, especially for premium connectors.
So in short, yes, management is per environment, and it needs to be done in the same region as the gateway.

Is it visible if you turn on this switch? (top right corner)
Hello,
No it doesn't show when switching on the "Tenant Administration" toggle. This is the "Power BI" interface.
In the Power Platform Admin center under Data.. I can see a drop down for regions even if the "Tenant Administration" toggle is on or off.
Even Copilot doesn't know what's going on. 🙂
So far all I can suppose is that I can't use a regionally bound data gateway for Power BI. Why I don't know.
I'm terribly saddened by the documentation for this stuff. I'll have to find a book that does a better job.
If anyone has one that makes sense of Power Platform please tell me. The Microsoft docs just fail.Okay I think I'm getting closer to some management understanding.
I won't be able to use a regional gateway with PowerBI.
I can use a regional gateway with Power Apps. The gateway and the environment need to be in the same region.
I still do not know how I manage the connections though. If I'm supposed to do that in each enviroment. If I must have a license to manage and so on.

The gateway and Power BI tenant definitely need to be in the same region.
You referenced PowerBI.
I can't see the gateway in Power BI. I see no way to use it.
