How can I view existing credentials?

Hi wizards,

I have some reports I need to take over. Data sources are BigQuery and Google Sheets. I need to see what the existing credentials are so I can connect using those when I take over the report.

The credentials link is greyed out, presumably as I am not yet the owner. Is there anyway to see what the current credentials are?

Thanks!

Hi there

Unfortunately you will NOT be able to see the credentials even when you take the reports over.

This is to ensure that the credentials cannot be copied and pasted.

As well as far as I know once they are entered they are encrypted.

You would need to get the details from the owner of the credentials.

HI @JonSwed,

AFAIK, normally these data credentials to verify the data source connections, you can't check finished configured credentials information. (these credentials also be encrypted for security reason when they use on gateway and data refresh)

For your requirement, I'd like to suggest your data source are fully parameterized your connection string and credentials with query parameters, they can be view or modify on power bi service side.

Edit parameter settings in the Power BI service

Thanks for that. I was hoping that I'd be able to see the email adress used to link to BigQuery but suspected that everything might be hidden.

Thanks for letting us know.
