Google Analytics don't refresh on Service

There is an issue with refreshing Google analytics data in Service when these are uploaded from Desktop app.

I connected to GA from PowerBI desktop , transform data and then load to data model. PowerBI desktop is refreshing the data.

When uploading or publish data in Service after enter credentials the refresh fails with the below message

This has happened to 3 different files with different settings, transformations for each one. Some files merge GA queries, split columns , conditional columns, contains other  data sources etc while other are just simple import data from GA.

None is refreshing in Service and fails with the above error.

  • The credentials used in Service are the same for many GA accounts
  • Is there any limitation in transformations with GA connector?
  • Does GA data source needs a specific data privacy permission?
  • Is there any issues with combination with other data sources & their data permissions ? ( needs fast combine ?)

Seems to be an issue also in some posts in community without anyone having a clear answer or solution. This is a bit annoying as GA is a really common asked data source.

* I have submitted a support ticket from O365 admin portal with no answer yet.

Thanks

@konstantinos

Can you double confirm the credential entered in Power BI Service? I don't reproduce the same error only when entering a google account with no GA enabled.

@Eric_Zhang  I double check them. Notice that I have 3 GA accounts for the same email.

The datasets are uploaded (get data ) or published form a powerbi desktop file.

The same credentials are working in PBIX for all GA sites/accounts

I also tried to delete the credentials in pbix, then upload & enter again the credentials.

Tried delete the dataset and upload again with no success.

I am getting the same error.

* When I had access to only one GA site was working. Not sure if this is the issue or just the connector in one of updates.

If you have any suggestions I can try

Thanks

I would also like to see this issue addressed. I've been having it for some time and have not been able to find a workaround. I now  have over a dozen reports hinging on this getting fixed.

The problem seems random. Some connections work every time. In particular, those that are initiated via the online "Get Data" button. Some reports uploaded from desktop work OK, or intermittently.

Most commonly, though, PBIX uploaded to a workspace stops working once uploaded, even after credentials are reset/verified.

@jasoncrain @Eric_Zhang  Don't work for me. I tried again "Get Data" from local file and OneDrive Business. Same error.

I even used in enter the credentials in incognito mode.

* I use chrome, but I have also tried Edge ( maybe some cashed credentials ??)
