Our BI Developer moved on to greener pastures last Friday. Saturday their account was disabled and dataflows stopped working.
I have gone in and taken ownership of everything and put in my credentials where needed.
For the most part everything seems to be working except one dataflow that uses an on-premise gateway to a SQL datasource.
I can see that it was working fine before the user's account was disabled. So I am pretty sure it is not an issue witht he gateway itself, etc.
I have rights to the SQL datasource, The Gateway, the Dataflow, etc. and I'm a global admin. So I dont think it is a permissions issue. I use this same gateway myself for some automations I run on the same datasource.
Dataflow Status "Not configured correctly"
In Gateway Settings says "Online: You are good to go."
The individual data soruce settings though says :
Unable to connect: This data source cannot connect to any gateway instances of the cluster. Please find more details below about specific errors for each gateway instance.
Time: Mon Feb 15 2021 12:33:21 GMT-0800 (Pacific Standard Time)
Service version: 13.0.15383.18
Client version: 2102.2.04869-train
IGGateway: The on-premises data gateway's service account failed to impersonate the user.
So, down under Authentication I am leaving that as "Windows"
For Username I have tried a lot of things like full email address and DOMAIN\Username
Neither work though, always the same error message??
Anything else I can try?
Thanks,
Terry
PS - Gateway does have latest updates.
Hi @Mattw112
Could I ask you to see what Service account is being used on the Gateway Server for the On-Premise Service account?
I think that this might be using the previous users details?
Just the default one. PBIE...??
Yeah
Hi @Mattw112
What happens if you try and connect from the Gateway to the SQL Server using SSMS?
And because it is on-prem SQL you would need to use DOMAIN\Username
I use SSMS almost daily to connect to this datsource.
Using Domain\Username
And I've tried using exactly the same here. Both SSMS and Here are set to "Windows Authentication".
The Server Name is exactly the same.
Anything else?
Terry
