Filters in the app

I have a report in Power Bi services. There are 5 users for the report. Now the question is if the main user selects some filters can it be propogated to all other users also.

As of now I have to implement that filter in Pbix file and republish it.

Thanks

Thank you for raising this question. I'd like to thank lbendlin and nilendraFabric  for their insightful responses and valuable contributions to this discussion.

To confirm and expand on their points :-

    1. Report URLs with filters: When a user applies filters in the Power BI Service, those filter values are reflected in the report URL. Sharing this URL with others allows them to view the report in the same filter context. More information is available here.

    2. Bookmarks and the "Chat in Teams" feature: Users can create personal bookmarks with specific slicer/filter selections and share those views directly through Teams. This is a great way to align on specific views during collaboration. Do note that personal bookmarks may expire after a certain period.  Share a filtered Power BI report - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

These options allow users to share filtered views without needing to republish the PBIX file.

Hope this helps. Please reach out for further assistance.

  • Users can share bookmarks via the "Chat in Teams"  feature.  Sort of "let me show you what I am looking at".  Note that these bookmarks are ephemeral (30 days, I think)
