Favorite reports from multiple Apps - 'Quick Access' list for specific reports
Hi Everyone.
We currently manage a large Power BI environment where reports are distributed across multiple workspaces and shared with end-users via Apps and Audiences. Most users have access to 15–20 reports but only frequently use 3–5.
We are looking for a way to allow users to 'curate' their own frequent-flyer list. We've encountered the following roadblocks:
Favoriting: Favoriting a report within an App adds the entire App to favorites, not the individual report.
Security: We cannot grant Workspace access for security/governance reasons (we rely on Audience-level security).
Teams Integration: Adding reports as tabs in a Channel makes them visible to everyone in that channel, which doesn't solve the need for a private personalized list.
Are there any native features or creative workarounds that allow users to create a private 'Quick Access' list for specific reports within a shared App?"
Hi Vivek26 ,
Thanks for checking this.
Currently, there isn’t a supported way to generate a “clean” direct link to an individual report within an App without the navigation pane. When a report link is copied from an App, it will always retain the App context including the left navigation, as this is by design to support the App experience and audience-based access control.
Workarounds you can consider:
Use browser bookmarks for frequently accessed reports (will still open within the App shell)
Create a centralized “Report Hub” (e.g., SharePoint page or a Power BI report with links)
Use direct workspace report links if workspace access can be granted (not applicable in your current setup)At this time, creating a private, per user quick access list for reports across Apps is not natively supported.
Thanks,
Chaithra

Hi Vivek26 ,
Yes, you are correct. We can mark only the app/dashboard as a favorite, not the report. However, I found some interesting workarounds on the same topic. Thanks

Hi Natarajan ,
I was not able to replicate this behavior.
Any way to get the link of an individal report from the app without the navigation pane ?

Hi Vivek26
Power BI does not provide a native way for users to create a personal quick access to list of individual reports across multiple apps as favorites work at the app level rather than the report level.
So workaround is for users to maintain their own list using browser bookmarks or for organizations to build a simple report hub page with direct links to commonly used reports allowing private access without changing security or workspace permissions.
