Saving Notebooks to specific folder

Hi,

When i was saving my Notebooks, there is only option that allows me to save a copy in the specific workspace, but not to a specific folder. We are sharing a Fabric workspace and my project has its own folder. Every time i completed a Notebook i have to manually move this Notebook to my own folder, which is not a super good experience..

Would anyone know if there's a better option?

thanks.

  • Hi MasonMA ,

Thanks for voting and for sharing the idea link.
At this time, there isn’t any admin or user level setting available to change the default “Save As” behavior for Notebooks to target a specific folder in a Fabric workspace. This is a current product limitation, and the only supported option is to save to the workspace and then manually move the Notebook into the desired folder.
The best path forward is exactly what you’ve done upvoting and engaging with the existing idea so the product team can prioritize this enhancement based on community demand.

    Thank you.

  • Hi MasonMA

You've got my vote as well.

I've noticed that the folder implementation is rather lacking in Fabric in general. It's just a visual layer, items are still required to have unique names in the entire workspace, and lots of items (like the notebooks you mentioned) get created at the root folder with no option to change it.

No MasonMA , there is currently no admin or user setting in Microsoft Fabric that allows “Save As” → directly into a specific folder for Notebooks.
And yep I'll cast my vote for the previous old answer 🙂
