Fabric Capacity Metrics App - Error Fetching Data

Hi,
I'm having trouble with the Fabric Capacity Metrics App and would appreciate your help understanding what's going wrong.

I'm logged in as a user with the Capacity Admin role, and I can see that the data refresh completes without any errors. However, when I try to view the visuals, I get the following error:

sepodev_0-1745225656326.png

Error message:

Error fetching data for this visual

Error obtaining data location. The exception was raised by the IDbCommand interface.
Please try again later or contact support. If you contact support, please provide these details.

Do I need any additional permissions to access the visuals?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi @sepodev ,

In addition to @BhavinVyas3003  response, if everything appears to be correct but the error still persists, please try uninstalling and then reinstalling the Fabric Capacity Metrics app. Many users have found that this step helps resolve similar issues. Also, ensure that the app is installed in a workspace supported by Fabric capacity rather than a Pro workspace.

I also noticed a similar case reported in the community. I’ve shared the link below, which might provide additional insights for your situation.

@sepodev

Like @BhavinVyas3003  mentioned you should have capacity admin role atleast in one workspace in order to access run capacity metrics app. Considering you mentioned that the refresh is working, but the report is throwing an error, I would suggest you to check if the report and semantic model are linked or not, you can check it from the lineage view. If you see any problem then you need to rebind the report with the semantic modle using the API

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/rest/api/power-bi/reports/rebind-report-in-group

If not then delete this fabric capacity metrics completely and reinstall it from the app source.

Hi

Even if you’re a Capacity Admin, you also need Viewer or Member access to the workspaces whose metrics are being shown.

  • Open the Microsoft Fabric Admin Portal
  • Navigate to Capacity settings → Workspaces
  • Make sure your user has access to at least one workspace hosted in that capacity

Thanks,

Bhavin
