External Share Issue - Trial License

Hi!

A partner organiation has sent a report share to a couple of our users. However when using the share link, despite having a Power BI pro licence (assigned by our own tenancy admin), it is asks our users to register for trail power bi pro licence. Would anyone know what is going on here as I can't seem to find much info on it. Update: one of the users signed up for the trial and can see the report (probably for as long as trial lasts?)?

Thanks

Usually, you received that message because those external/guest users are still assigned with free licences. Please confirm with the tenancy admin whether have successful assigned them with Pro, be aware guest users needs to be add to your M365 first.

Please refer to how to assign pro license to users.

  • Hi there

If you get that issue, it is often because the user has been assigned a Power BI Free License.

Remove the Power BI Free license from the user account and get them to try and log in again.

Also make sure that when the user logs in they accept the Trial license. Some users just dismiss the pop-up and then get prompted for a pro license.
