Hi,
I've created a report en published it to PBI service. However, when I want to get an excel dump of a table, the export data option is not available. Other reports (also created by me) in the same workspace do have this option.
I've checked the following:
In PBI desktop > settings > the option for end users to export data is turned on:
The tenant settings for export data are turned on:
In PBI service > settings of the report > I've specified what users are allowed to export:
But in the report online, no export data option:
Does anyone have an idea what can be the cause of this and how to solve it?
Many thanks, Anne

Hi @Anne_PBI
You've encountered a frustrating issue in Power BI: the "Export data" option is missing for a specific report you published, even though all the relevant settings appear to be correctly configured. This is preventing you from getting an Excel dump of a table within that report, a functionality that works for your other reports in the same workspace. You've diligently checked the settings in Power BI Desktop, the tenant settings for data export, and the report-specific settings in the Power BI service, confirming that data export should be enabled for the report and its users. Despite this, the export option remains stubbornly absent in the online version of the report. This discrepancy suggests a potential conflict or issue beyond the basic settings. Possible causes could include specific configurations within the report itself (like row-level security or specific visual settings), a temporary glitch in the Power BI service, a browser-related issue (cache, extensions), or a problem with the dataset connection. Troubleshooting steps might involve republishing the report, testing in a different browser, examining the report's data model for any unusual security rules, and checking the data source connection for any potential errors.
Hi @Anne_PBI,
Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft fabric community forum.
I want to thank @Poojara_D12 for the detailed and helpful response. Great insights were shared. Building on those suggestions, I’d like to add a few additional points that might help narrow down the cause of the missing Export Data option in your report:
Here’s a helpful Microsoft documentation link on export settings in Power BI:

Hope this works for you!
Thank you.
Thank you for your suggestions @v-ssriganesh and @Poojara_D12. I've tried them all and in the end the only solution was to rebuild all tables and matrixes in a different (clean/new) report and then copy them to my report. I still do not understand what the issues was but now I can download the data... very strange.
Many thanks!
