Excel Workbook Data Refresh in Power BI Service
Hi all,
I have an Excel file using PowerPivot to build the model by connecting Azure SQL database. All is working fine in Excel world. Once I publish the file to PBI service, I won't be able to refresh the data unless I refresh my Excel file and re-published it again. Is it possbile to be able to refresh the dataset like regular PBI report? The reason I am using Excel is because the data being shared via Excel file in pivot table format. I can use Martix in PBI, but when export data to csv file, it becomes "unpivot" format, so the users have to re-pivot again. This means it adds more steps to their current work procedures. i am currently use Excel 2016 version and sometime when i create data connection to the azure database, the password is not saved even though I check to save password. Very frustrated. Anyone out there have good experience by publishing workbook to PBI service?
Thanks,
Wenchi Wang
Hi wenchi
Currently using Excel with power Pivot is not supported in the Power BI Service.
What you could do is to use Power BI to create the dataset and then upload to the Power BI Service. You can then attached your Excel file to this dataset
Here is how you can achieve this
