It seems the limit isn't from Power BI but from the Excel. Please refer to data-model-specification-and-limits.

Super UserAs far as I have read in the various whitepapers I think that limit might still apply.
You could always look to import the data using the Get and Transform data (Power Query) which will reduce the size of the workbook significantly?
