8 years agoExcel/PowerPivot Dataset Limits in PBI Premium
In the Planning a Power BI Deployment whitepaper, https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/whitepapers , it states that "The maximum size of an Excel dataset that can be published to Power BI is 250MB, compared to 1GB for Power BI Desktop". Does that limit apply to datasets published from Excel to a Power BI Premium tenant?
Hi jhayes64,
It seems the limit isn't from Power BI but from the Excel. Please refer to data-model-specification-and-limits.

As far as I have read in the various whitepapers I think that limit might still apply.
You could always look to import the data using the Get and Transform data (Power Query) which will reduce the size of the workbook significantly? - v-jiascu-msft
