Error while scheduled refreshing

Hi All,   I am using postgresql db and the dataset size is in millions. We have published the report and scheduled for data refresh on all saturdays.    The automatic refresh fails all the time, ...

Hey AishwariyaV ,

 

did you set up the AWS environment like it's recommended from Amazon for Power BI Service?

Hi selimovd ,

 

I am not sure in which server the gateway resides, but then if there is something wrong with the setup, it shouldn't work on manual refresh also right?

    Hey AishwariyaV ,

     

    not necessarily. If you connect with PBI Desktop your notebook connects directly to a server in the AWS cloud without any gateway. That can easily work.

    But if you schedule a refresh in PBI Service, the Microsoft cloud (=Power BI Service) has to connect to the AWS cloud with a gateway. This is technically more complicated. So you should follow best practice and set it up like Amazon recommends. Believe me, there is a purpose behind the white paper 😉
