Error when accessing Power BI apps

MellishT_0-1744230744421.png

When users are accessing Power BI apps I have made, some of them (seemingly randomly) are getting this error. Upon clicking "Ok" they are sent to the app correctly, but some people see this error and give up, so I would love to address this if possible.

This generally happens because you are landing them to a page, they don’t have access to or you just updated the app with a new report to land on and their browser needs to refresh.

Easiest solution is to have a default landing page that all audiences have access to.

This helped me figure it out. Someone had set up a link through some service that makes a custom url and it was linking to an old version of one of the reports that no longer existed. Thanks!

Hi @MellishT ,

Thank you @lbendlin for the helpful response!

This is a common issue, to prevent this from happening, here are a few things you may need to do:

  • Always share the main app link (you may find it under the “Share” button in the app), not a direct link to a specific report.
  • In your app settings, set the default landing page to a report that everyone can access.

Making these small changes should stop the error .

Hope this helps. If so,consider accepting it as solution.

Regards,
Pallavi.

You gave them the wrong link (to a report they don't have access to).  Give them the app link, not a report link.
