Error refreshing PBI model via Excel

So, I went the 'Analyze Excel' route and have an Excel Workbook connected to a PowerBI dataset.

When I open the XLS file in Excel Desktop locally and refresh, all OK.

When I move this XLS file to the cloud (O365 Onedrive for Business or Sharepoint, all NOT OK.

Thoughts? Error feedback is horribly inadequate.

Currently it is not possible to refresh an Excel workbook that is connected to the Power BI Dataset or even an SSAS or AAS Cube.
