Error in the Service with Refresh - ServerError_DMTS_StandAlone_UserErrorTooManyRequest

Hi

We had the following error when a dashboard refreshed - ServerError_DMTS_StandAlone_UserErrorTooManyRequest

When I googled it nothing came up as below -

KarenL7_0-1717570738982.png

Is there anyone who has encountered this issue at all? I have never seen it before.

We are on Power BI Premium - we are careful when we set up are our refreshes etc - is this due to our gateway (Feb 2024) -

I have exported the logs from the gateway - I am unable to see any obvious gateway errors unfortunately - that are logged - and out of the large number of reports (50 or so) which are refreshed over night - 5 failed with the same issue.  Power BI has always been able to handle this amout of reports before?

When trying to refresh one the reports it is now failing as it can no longer see the gateway connections that are set up on the report - this has not been deployed or changed in a very long time and has been successfully refreshing previously.

Any one have any ideas at all?

Thanks.

Hi all

Update from MS

Email to me

We've determined that a recent standard service update inadvertently contains a code regression that's resulting in scheduled refresh operation requests to unexpectedly fail and impact end users. We're reverting the aforementioned update to remediate impact and we anticipate this process will be complete by our next scheduled update.

Awareness

Power BI customers with Tenants located in UK South and North Central US regions may experience failures with Scheduled refreshes. As a workaround, customers can perform on-demand refresh. Engineers are investigating the issue and and a mitigation is being applied, full recovery is expected by 7 AM PDT.

We are experiencing the same from very long before. All scheduled reports are having this issue but Via API and manual refreshes are going good

Same issue, but in our case, even manual refreshes fail if we already have several running.

We too experienced same issue. On manual dataset refresh few refreshed successfully but few failed. The one which ran successfully took abnormally high time then normal refresh time.

Morning,

Same for us, today is the second time it happened. Our refreshes are scheduled to start hourly from 8am so can't accurately pinpoint a trigger time. As others have noted, triggering a manual refresh has "fixed" things.

I'll keep watch of this thread for any further developments.

Message from Microsoft - They have escalated it to their Engineering team and they are actively investigating . No ETA but will update as soon as they can

Jaren I had the error and the gateway problem I swicth to Chrome and it worked for me.. (sorry if it does not help you)

Richard

Thanks - I managed to manually refresh them eventually - some of the reports complained there was no gateway - I went back an hour later and I was able to refresh.

Waiting for an update really to find out what happened - and a solution to stop it happening going forward!

Hi @KarenL7 ,

Are you seeing any spikes on Interactive & Background CPU  utilization in fabric capacity metrics app?

Thanks,

Sai Teja

Hi

We have check cannot see any obvious spikes or CPU utilization - also there were no errors written to gateway logs.  I even checked the eventvwr on the server and was unable to see anything.

Thanks

Same issue here...
General stability of PowerBI is becoming worse and worse...

Oddly though I immediately manually refreshed and they all run successfully. Update from Microsoft would be great 😁

Same for us as well. Getting too many refresh failures with ServerError_DMTS_StandAlone_UserErrorTooManyRequest error for multiple reports. Can we get any ETA on fix please?
