Hopefully someone has come across this before, work in a company with a locked down Enterprise gateway so do not have access to most of the settings.
We use the enterprise gateway when using any on premise data, Azure Direct Query and Import and these all normally work fine when it is just one of these data sources on their own.
Recently we have had a situation where we need to pull some data in from our Azure layer via import and use some files that are updated into excel documents that are on premise data. When we merge these queries and refresh them in the desktop they will refresh and update fine.
Once uploaded to the service the Enterprise Gateway is not showing as avaliable. To test I went and removed the merged queries in the data model from the excel queries and reuploaded and the Enterprise Gateway was showing again. It seems to be there is a problem when Import and On Premise is combined into a data model. Has anyone had this issue before?
Appreciate any help you can offer
Hi @Thomo768,
For your sceanrio, you could user personal gateway to refresh the data.
Currently, you also could use On-premise gateway which enables you to merge or append on-premises and cloud data sources in the same query.
Please check if you have follow the steps to set your Data Gateway.

Hi @v-piga-msft
Thank you for your reply on this, I am afraid we are locked out of a lot of settings, including the ability to have personal gateways. We are unable to manage or install any gateways.
I can escalate to the IT department if we can explain the reason that the Azure Import & Excel data can not be refreshed by gateway if they are linked via a merge query/relationship?
Thanks

I'm a little confused about your scenario. Why are unable to manage the Gateway?
Could you share some screenshots about Manage gateway for your scenario so that we could help further on it?

I am part of a large organisation who have just started to impliment Power BI into the IT infastructure. This means quite a few settings are blocked out for us, for example if I go into manage gateways I get this:
There is a company owned gateway that works when our data set includes purely Azure Imported data or purely excel data and shows as below:
When I upload the file with both an imported excel file and Azure Import data that has been merged together the Enterprice gateway that is shown above as owned by "BICC" department does not appear at all:
Apologies as quite confusing to explain. Hope this helps?
Hi @Thomo768,
Maybe you're the user of the data source for Azure Imported data or purely excel data, so you could see the gateway.
However, you may not the admin of the on-premise data gateway so you cannot have access to it.
In addition, do you install the Personal Gateway on your server? You could use Personal Gateway.

Cherry
Hi @v-piga-msft
I am afraid we are unable to install personal gateways on the machines we use as they are locked down.
I am guessing there is no known issue with combining excel (on premise data) and Azure Import data that would cause this issue?
