Embed trial usage is 50%

Hi,

We are using PowerBI Embedded for our reporting ASP.NET MVC app and have 2 PowerBI Pro licenses. Yesterday we got a message that we used 50% of free tokens and should buy a capacity. The lowest price is around 700 USD/mo. I believe it's too much for small organizations that's why I have a list of questions.

1. What does 50% mean? How can I convert it to days/months/sessions etc.?

2. Will they be refreshed or it a one-time bonus?

3. Do I have a chance to avoid PowerBI Premium in Production and pay only for Power BI Pro licenses?

Thanks,

Dmytro

    HI dimonser,

#1. It means you're used 50% of free credit.(free trial has $200 credit)

#2. Nope, if you finish use free credit, you need to pay for embed service.

#3. I don't think it is possible, maybe you can try to resubmit an account and re-config for your product.

    Power BI Embedded pricing

    Pricing details

The total cost of Power BI Embedded depends on the node type chosen and the number of nodes deployed. Node types differ

based on number of V-cores and RAM as outlined in the table below:

NODE TYPE VIRTUAL CORES MEMORY CORES PEAK RENDERS PER HOUR PRICE
    A1 1 3 GB RAM 0.5 / 0.5 1 1 - 300 $1.0081/hour
    A2 2 5 GB RAM 1 / 1 1 301 - 600 $2.0081/hour
    A3 4 10 GB RAM 2 / 2 601 - 1,200 $4.0242/hour
    A4 8 25 GB RAM 4 / 4 1,201 - 2,400 $8.0565/hour

    A6 32 100 GB RAM 16 / 16 4,801 - 9,600 $32.26/hour

In addition you can also consider to subscript power bi premium EM plan to instead.(it is cheaper than power bi embedded and also support embed feature)

      Hi,

      Thank you for the response.

From your words we pay 25$/mo (200 (credit  limit) / 2 (50%) / 4 (months of our work)). This price looks fair according to the size of the project. But in ~4 months Microsoft wants us to pay ~700$/mo which is 28 times greater than now without any changes to load on Microsoft servers.

It looks like a cheating :(
