Hello all @v-karpurapud @rohit1991@ibarrau, thanks for all your comments. But this issue is a limitation from the microsoft itself. As i am using a custom wallpaper and custom background colors and canvas colours( I have to use this and don't want to use power bi themes. With power bi themes, pdf has no issue).  The below one is mentioned in microsoft documentation"

  • The feature doesn't export any wallpaper you apply to the report. Since wallpaper isn't exported to the PDF, you should pay special attention to reports that use dark wallpaper. If the text in your report is light or white, it is difficult to read in the export to PDF process since the dark wallpaper isn't exported with the rest of the report.I am using dark wallpaper and so it can't be exported to pdf.
    Thanks,

Hi @aswathiii

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.

The answer provided by @rohit1991  was indeed correct. Additionally, please consider the following points that might be helpful:

  • Try switching to a default Power BI theme to see if that resolves the issue.
  • If the background appears correct in Power BI but not in the PDF, adjust the Page Size settings under Format > Page Size and ensure the scaling is appropriate when exporting.
  • If using background images, ensure they are of high resolution to avoid pixelation when exported to PDF.

If my response has resolved your query, please mark it as the Accepted Solution to help others. Additionally, I would appreciate a 'Kudos' if you found my response helpful.

Thank you!

Hi @aswathiii

I understand your concern regarding the use of custom wallpaper and custom background colors in the Power BI report. This limitation is imposed by Microsoft.

Could you please formalize this as feedback, outlining the specific need for custom themes in Power BI reports?Microsoft Fabric Ideas feedback submitted here is often reviewed by the product teams and can lead to meaningful improvement.

hi @aswathiii , Power BI does not export transparency in PDFs. Custom backgrounds (colors/images) may not render. Some themes don’t apply in exported PDFs.

Solutions:

  1. Set a Solid Background Color

    • Go to View > Page Background → Select a solid (non-transparent) color.
  2. Use a Background Image

    • Add a full-page image → Set Transparency = 0% in Page Formatting.
  3. Use Print to PDF Instead

    • Instead of Export to PDF, use Print > Save as PDF for better rendering.
