Dynamic RLS that works in Test Mode, but not in Normal mode

Hello,

This is my 3rd week working with PowerBI.

I have a Sales Rep Org Chart table linked to my Sales Rep table.  I have a *:1 relationship defined with the apply filter in both directions checked.

I have the rest of the model configured referencing the Sales Rep table.

I have setup the RLS role "Dynamic User" on the Sales Rep Org Chart table with the following DAX filter: "[REPORT_USERS_EMAIL] = USERPRINCIPALNAME()"

When I "View As" and select Dynamic User role and select Other User and enter a test email address, the model and reports filter correctly.

I published the report to the test workspace and assign users to my Dynamic Role on the DataSet Security Tab.

Then I open a InPrivate/Incognito window and login to PowerBI using the test users email address, the report does not filter.

When I go to the DataSet > Security Tab > Role > Test as role, the report filters correctly.

I am trying to figure out how to set the Dynamic User role to be the default view of the DataSet.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Travis

    Hi tgassmann

What type of role does the account you use for testing have in your workspace? If you want  RLS to take effect for the user, this user cannot have Edit permissions to the report. The user needs to be the Viewer role of the workspace.
