Hello Community!
I’m using a Power BI dataflow that was configured from a Common Data Model (CDM) folder in Azure Data Lake. Recently, I was informed that a new a new column will be added to an existing table in the CDM witch is called in my Dataflow, but I’m unsure if this new column will automatically be reflected in the dataflow or if additional steps are needed (e.g., recreating the dataflow).
Since dataflows created from CDM folders cannot be edited directly in the Power BI service, has anyone faced a similar case and could share how they handled it? Do I need to recreate the dataflow, or is there a process to update entities automatically?
Any shared experience or official references would be greatly appreciated

Hi, @kvidales
When you add a new column to a table in the Common Data Model (CDM) folder, it isn't automatically reflected in the Power BI dataflow. You'll need to take a few extra steps to ensure that the new column is included in your dataflow
Sometimes, it can be helpful to simply refresh the dataflow. However, this may not always work if schema changes are not automatically detected.
Open the dataflow in Power BI Desktop and make sure you can see the new column in Query Editor. You may need to perform a small edit, such as adding a dummy transform, to force an update of the schema. You can check the following link:

If the above steps don't work, you may need to recreate the dataflow. This involves resetting the dataflow from the CDM folder, ensuring that new columns are included in the process.

Ensure that the schema in the CDM folder is updated correctly. Sometimes, the problem may be that the schema at the source is not updated correctly. You can check the following link:
