Hi All,
I’m planning to transition to Microsoft Fabric SKUs like F64, but I’m a bit confused about the licensing requirements. In the Microsoft Q&A, it states:
“The Power BI Pro license requirements for Power BI Premium per capacity extend to Fabric capacity. Power BI report publishers and consumers will still need a Power BI Pro license. However, with an F64 – a Premium P1 equivalent – or larger capacities, Power BI report consumers do not require a Power BI Pro license.
For non-Power BI publishing activities, no Power BI Pro license is required. This means users can use pipelines, create data warehouses, use notebooks, and manage their capacities without a Power BI Pro license.”
I’d like to clarify the term “consumers”— does it only refer to those viewing reports, or does it also include publishing reports?
So, when using Microsoft Fabric SKUs like F64, do I still need to purchase a Power BI Pro license to publish and share reports or dashboards, or is it included as part of the Fabric SKUs? Thank you!
To publish and share Power BI reports/dashboards using Microsoft Fabric SKUs like F64, a Power BI Pro license is required for publishers. However, consumers (those viewing/interacting with reports) do not need a Pro license if the content is hosted on F64 or larger capacities. Non-Power BI activities in Fabric (e.g., pipelines, data warehouses) do not require a Pro license.
