Disable dataflow-published pop-up notifications!

I keep seeing these distracting pop-up notifications in the upper right hand side of my screen.  They are typically about dataflows being published.   I am not on the team where that work is being performed.

The pop-ups are unnecessary, given that these notifications can also be seen in the list of activity here:

How do I get the Power BI portal to stop popping open those little announcements on my screen all the time?  ( As long as they are tucked away in the "notifications" list, that is sufficient.)

My preferences are turned off in my settings, so I'm not sure why I still get these silly pop-ups that have nothing to do with my work.

1 ACCEPTED SOLUTION

Hi @dbeavon3 ,

Unfortunately, there seems to be no direct toggle to disable these notifications entirely.
I am not a Microsoft FTE, but I can assure you that your feedback is valuable and aligns with similar concerns raised by other users.
To ensure your concerns reach the right team:

  1. You can submit your feedback as a feature request via the "Submit an Idea" option in Power BI (found under Help > Submit an Idea). These suggestions are reviewed by the Product Group (PG).
  2. I will also escalate this concern through the channels available to me to bring it to the attention of the Power BI PG team.

Best Regards.

Hi @dbeavon3 ,
Thanks for posting in Microsoft Fabric Community.

I understand how frustrating these constant pop-up notifications can be, especially when they’re unrelated to your work. Since you've already tried adjusting the settings in Power BI , here are other steps you can take:

  1. Identify and Manage Workspaces:
-Identify the workspace where these notifications originate.
-Request your role to be changed to Viewer or be removed if you don’t need access.
  2. Review Tenant Settings :
-Review tenant-level settings that might control unnecessary notifications or announcements across the organization.
  3. Suppress Browser Pop-ups:
-Block Power BI notifications at the browser level:
    • In Chrome: Settings > Privacy and Security > Site Settings > Notifications.
    • In Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Notifications.

These steps should help minimize distractions. Let us know if you need further assistance.

If this post helps, please consider accepting as solution to help others find easily and a kudos would be appreciated.

Best regards.

I'm still convinced that there has to be a normal way to disable the popups, without taking the extreme measures you shared.

Are you a Microsoft FTE?  Can you please contact the PG that designs these popups and ask them the normal mechanism is to turn them off.

One of the more annoying things about the popups is that they appear over and over again.  For example if I have three tabs open to Power BI, and I get an announcement on one window, then I will also see it repeatedly for the next hour as I switch from one tab to another.  I think the PG team really overestimated the value of these notifications, if they want us to look at them popping up all over the place!

Here is an example of the annoying popups.

They have no purpose whatsoever, except to distract and draw my attention to something that is unimportant to me.
