Direct Query with Dataflow working for one table but not another

Hello,

 

I built a dataflow with 2 underlying tables.  That worked properly and data loaded.  Enhanced Compute is set to 'On'.  

When I connect to the dataflow from Power BI desktop and try to use Direct Query it works for one of the 2 tables but not the other one.  Any ideas why?  Both tables just connect to a SQL Server db view.  I even changed the underlying SQL of the one which didn't work - to be the same as the SQL for the one that did work - and still unable to use direct query - can just use import.

It's possible that the table that is not working with Direct Query has a data type that is not supported by Direct Query.


To use Direct Query, the data source must support the required data types and functions. If the data source does not support these data types or functions, Power BI will automatically switch to Import mode.


You can check the data types of the columns in the table that is not working with Direct Query and compare them to the data types that are supported by Direct Query.


Another possibility is that the table that is not working with Direct Query has a large number of rows or is too complex for Direct Query to handle. In this case, you may need to consider using Import mode or optimizing the table to work with Direct Query.
