Deployment Pipeline, Dataflows, and Report Queries
For the life of me, I cannot figure this out and I also cannot find if it has already been asked here.
I have a Deployment Pipeline. I also have a dataflow which includes every table I will use across all of the reports in a particular workspace in the pipeline. I have set a rule in each stage of the pipeline to change the database source of the dataflow tables to the correct database.
However, here is my issue: I have a report which uses a table called--for example--"Dim Users" from within the dataflow. Now, the query gets this table from the Dataflow by navigating the PowerPlatform->Workspaces->[Specific Workspace Id/Name]->[Dataflow Name]->[Table Name]. Even though my rule changes the dataflow source db, it cannot change the actual report queries to use the dataflow from the current stage's workspace ID, can it? How can I do this without manually having to change every single query of every report?
Also, I'm not sure if I should ask two questions in the same post, but it is related. Every time I deploy to a new stage in my pipeline, the reports in that new stage (workspace) show fine in the Service, but when I download the report, it shows I have pending changes and if I accept or discard them, every query disappears and I am left with nothing. Whyyyyyyy?
Sorry for the delayed response. I have been busy lately and forgot about this post. I have since figured out my issue. I needed to use a parameter that holds the workspace name of the dataflow within my report queries. Then, in my Deployment Pipeline, add a Parameter Rule to change the parameter for all of the datasets that use the dataflow.
