Datasources getting reverted in Power BI

Hello,

1. I had published reports in PowerBI workspace using MS SQL Server Datasource.

2. There was changes in Connection string so corrected 'source' in PBI report -> Published reports -> Mapped Datasource in Gateway Settings. (Replacing existing Reports in Workspace)

3. I had to delete some reports as they were not in use.

After certain days, Datasources appears again in workspace with intial definition of the datasources.

In some cases deleted Reports and Datasources appears with the initial version not with changes in step2.

Any idea, How reports can get reverted through Power BI Service?

How Power BI Service takes backup and when it restores?

Most importantlhy, How Connection string in the existing Dataset can be changed? Without changing Dataset ID.

It is unusual for the changes you made to the data source connection string in Power BI Desktop to be reverted in the Power BI Service. Here are some possible reasons why the changes may have been reverted:

  1. If you are using Power BI Gateway, check if the gateway is running and configured correctly. If there is any issue with the gateway, it may cause the data source connection to revert to its initial state.

  2. If you have shared the report or dataset with other users, it is possible that they have made changes to the report or dataset that overwrote your changes.

  3. If you have configured automatic dataset refresh, it is possible that the refresh operation has overwritten your changes.

What exactly you mean by 'Automatic refresh'? Is it different than scheduled refresh?
