Helper IData refresh suddenly slow in BI Service
I ended up publishing the same PBIX to a non premium workspace and saw a refresh time of 5 minutes. This confirmed some sort of premium throttling. The metrics didn't show any indication of system stress. I ended up turning off the refresh schedule (luckily it was the weekend). 1.5 days later and it worked fine, no model changes, no source data changes. bizarre stuff. Thanks for everyone's input on this.

In premium capacity you can always find an explanation to what caused your issue. If you have access to the Premium Metrics App then follow this video to understand

If you don't have access then The Admin of the tenant should be able to explain it to you.
