Exporting data from a Power BI report to Excel is a common need. However, with a Power BI free license, there are some limitations:

Free License: Users with a free license can view and interact with content in their own workspace or in a workspace backed by Premium capacity. However, they cannot export data from reports or dashboards.

Pro License: To export data from a Power BI report, users typically need a Power BI Pro license. This allows them to export data from visuals to Excel or CSV files.

Premium Capacity: If the report is hosted in a workspace with Premium capacity, users with free licenses can view and interact with the content, but exporting data still requires a Pro license.

To achieve the functionality you described, you would need to either:

Upgrade to a Power BI Pro license for the users who need to export data.
Ensure the report is in a Premium capacity workspace, but users will still need a Pro license to export data.

Hi @ramyasree2001 , hello powerbidev123  and saud968 , thank you for your prompt reply!

Based on your description, I share the report via a sharing link to the free account as shown below:

Then the free user will be able to export the data in Excel format:

If this is not feasible for you, please free feel to reply!

Best regards,

Hi Joyce thank you for the prompt reply but here in my senario the export of data should be done using public view link not by the direct report, the user of the public view link should be able to export the particular data, Could you please suggest me a way to acheive it
