Dashboard Tiles not refreshing with SSAS Back End

I have Power BI reports deployed, and Dashboard tiles pinned from these reports.    I have not been able to force the Dashboard tiles to refresh and reflect the latest data in the cube (after many days, still hasn't refreshed).  I have tried the manual refresh (elipsis menu in the dashboard).  I have republished the PBIX file to the service.  I have selected new slicer buttons on the desktop file prior to pushing it back into the service, but nothing seems to trigger the dashboard tiles to refresh.

If the Power BI file is published to the service and refreshes on a schedule, I "get" how Power BI knows when to refresh the dashboard tiles.  But how does it know when to refresh the dashboard tiles when there is a SSAS Live connection through and Enterprise Gateway?

MattAllington as per this article by GuyInACube pinned visuals are refreshed every 10 minutes. So in your case probably is a bug or something else. Can you try pin live page and I would guess that would show you data live as an alternative until you figure out what's the issue with pinned tiles.

How long have you waited? You could try re-pinning the tile, although I know that defeats the purpose. If it still hasn't updated, you may need to contact support to get more details about why it isn't updating.

Thanks for the replies.  It has been days since the refresh, and I have only ever "seemed" to have them update when I re-pin them ( I have done that a lot). It is somewhat confused because the design of the objects keeps changing (eg the number of decimal places change in a pinned KPI) and each time this happens, I have to repin the tiles (very annoying btw).  But my main question GuyInACube is "what is the trigger for the refresh"?  I can think of 3 options.

        1.  it is timed (eg every 10 minutes like mentioned above).

        2.  It is based on a refresh of the cube ( a new cube is published)

        3.  it is based on a republish of the PBIX file.

I have a slicer on the report with a "Month" selector.  So in June, the cube will be refreshed, I will then click the slicer for "June" on the PBIX file and republish the PBIX file.  Then I want the dashboard to update so that the June value for the KPI tile is visible.  But it doesn't seem to work this way - not consitently for me anyway.

And GuyInACube, looking forward to having you at our PUG meetup next month!

I had the exact same problem. I have a dashboard in Service that has visuals pinned from a report with a date filter driving the whole report. The data source for the report is an SSAS model connecting Live. When I change the date filter to roll the month over, the data in the tiles does not refresh.

I logged this with Microsoft and the official response is this isn't possible. Changes to the filters in the underlying reports do not reflect in the dashboards. Meaning, the dashboards are just snapshots and wont update if the underlying filters change in the reports. So one of the recommendations is to re-pin every visual every month once the date filter is changed. Imagine having to re-pin tens of visuals every month when the date filter changes. Highly inefficient and waste of time.

I am quite disappointed with this and as result I had to take the dashboards down as the business user does not have time to re-pin the visuals every month when they manually roll the month over.

I wonder how other customers are actually using Dashboards feature with underlying date filters!
