Hi, I am referring to a PBI report that is published and used as an app by users.
When I go to retrieve usage metrics, there are very few unique users even though I know more users than what is showing are using the report as an app.
Are the usage metrics accurate in terms of reporting unique users and views?
My goal is to identify users from different functional groups and which tabs they are using more of than others.
Also, is there a difference in usage metrics availability when using it as an app versus as a PBI report?
Thank you.
Hi, @Anonymous ;
An internal ICM 299848536 has been submitted and the engineers are working hard to fix the issue, I will give you feedback here as soon as there are any updates.

Hi Yalan, I am not sure I follow. I am just wondering why I see so few usage metrics when I know more users than that are using the PBI app. Question: Would I get the SAME usage metrics if I check in PBI Report versus PBI App? I was told that the App would not provide accurate usage metrics (would be few), whereas the PBI report would - but we don't want people to use the PBI report, we want them to use the app, but can we get accurate usage metrics from app or not? Sorry I didn't fully grasp your response. Thank you so much.

Hi, @Anonymous
It may be helpful to look at the official documentation to see what each indicator means.
Usage metrics report dataset
When you first launch the improved usage metrics report, Power BI automatically creates a Usage Metrics Report dataset. The improved usage metrics report relies on that dataset. Power BI then refreshes this dataset daily. While you can't change the refresh schedule, you can update the credentials that Power BI uses to refresh the usage metrics data. You may need to resume scheduled refresh if the credentials expired, or if you removed the user who first launched the usage metrics report from the workspace where the dataset resides.
