Change source for AS model from Azure SQL database to Fabric Warehouse
- Anonymous1 year ago
Hi mvink ,
Thank you for reaching out to us on Microsoft Fabric Community Forum! To update your Azure Analysis Services (AAS) model to pull data from Fabric Warehouse instead of Azure SQL Database, without having to rebuild everything from scratch .Unfortunately, Fabric Warehouse is not currently a supported data source for Azure Analysis Services (AAS).
1. AAS mainly supports Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse Analytics, and On-Prem SQL Server
supported-data-sources- Instead, as a workaround, use Azure Synapse Serverless SQL Pool as a Bridge
- Load your Fabric Warehouse data into Azure Data Lake Storage.
- Use Azure Synapse Serverless SQL Pool to query the data.
- Connect AAS to Synapse SQL Pool, which is a supported source.
2. If possible, consider moving to Power BI Premium.
- Power BI Premium datasets connect directly to Fabric Warehouse (unlike AAS).
- If switching to Power BI Premium is an option, this could save effort in the long run.
3. Keep an eye on Microsoft’s updates in case direct support becomes available in the future!
