Hi,
I want to schedule a report refresh in Service but the option is greyed out. I can see that the automated refresh has been deactivated and there is a warning when I enter the semantic model:
The sources are bigquery and an SQL server.
I have access to both since i'm able to access / refresh the data in powerBI desktop (i built the report myself). They are configured in the data source settings in desktop.
I'm not able to change the data source credentials in Service either - that's greyed out too.
I have browsed several messages on this forum and around the web, but they all seem to boil down to: insufficient access to sources, sources not properly configured, insufficient access in the workspace, or local sources being used (such as a file on a local network). I've also exhausted my copilot options.
The only report in my workspace that has an automated refresh schedule is not owned by me, so i cannot check the settings without taking over the semantic model - which i'd like to avoid in case that messes with the scheduled refreshes too.
Thanks for your help!

Hi @CorentinDepaire ,
Kindly check if you have the necessary permissions on the semantic model to modify the data source credentials.
In addition, you could consider republishing the report and then configuring the gateway and credentials directly in Power BI Service.

Bof
I have the same error
Data source error: Scheduled refresh is disabled because at least one data source is missing credentials. To start the refresh again, go to this dataset's settings page and enter credentials for all data sources. Then reactivate scheduled refresh.

i checked all of the query on my power bi desktop and no error found, i also cleared cache and replublish but the error still exist
(please note that all of the source files for the dashboard are excel file, on my shared drive)

Thanks for your reply - i am the owner of the semantic model, so I suppose that gives me sufficient rights?
Nevermind, i tried it again today and the "Data source credentials" was now available, and it automatically detected both sources (BQ and SQL). Had to config the SQL credentials and the manual refresh worked from the service view, and I could now schedule refreshes. The only thing I did since yesterday was to-republish the report through the app, but changed nothing else, so that might have solved it.
Thanks again!
Hi! I am by no means a power user, but this has happened to me before and the issue was that I had a data source to an excel file on my desktop that I needed to delete. I think it wanted me to create a gateway to my computer before it would let me do anything else... once my only data source was my APIs, I was able to configure the data sources in Service the way I needed to...
Thanks for your reply! I don't have any local files in the setup, only SQL and BigQuery. Apparently re-publishing the report in the app yestterday without any other changes solved it, i could access data source credentials today (it was greyed out before) and configure them, and the refresh (or schedule refresh config) worked from pbi service this time. Copilot did suggest that sometimes, you just have to wait a bit after publishing your report in the app, because service options only become available some time after. Weird but hey /shrug
