Azure Maps visual - Security concerns
We are looking at enabling the Azure Maps visual for our tenant as it will be beneficial for some of our reporting. However the disclaimer on the tenant settings regarding data sent to TomTom gave us pause. We're trying to figure out what exactly is sent to them and found 2 posts with contradictory answers: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Developer/privacy-concerns-over-azure-maps-query-data/td-p/2753320 and https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Custom-Visuals-Development/privacy-concerns-over-azure-maps-query-data/m-p/2758484.
Can anyone provide some clarification on what exactly is sent to TomTom? For example, if we have a visual with sales at the state level, would they ONLY receive the list of states, or would they have access to the sales numbers or even additional data from our model?

Hi LeifB ,
I looked at the threads that you had indicated. With all things Power BI, the speed at which the tool changes sometimes makes "old" threads incorrect (or, more properly stated, no longer valid). I think that is the case here. This location: Get started with Azure Maps Power BI visual - Microsoft Azure Maps | Microsoft Learn is what lists in what is sent to Azure in that thread. This thread was lat updated 2/27/23. The other threads that you mention are older and might not be valid.
I went to TomTom's website but didn't find anything there about using Power BI so I think we have to rely on the Microsoft article.
