Automated process to upgrade new my workspace to premium capacity

Hi all,

I am the power bi administrator in my organisation, recently I got requirement that is no need to manually upgrade all shared workspaces that are created with each new desktop account. So if there is any automation to upgrade others "my workspace" to premium capacity. Please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

My Workspace doesn't get upgraded to Premium. It doesn't get upgraded at all. Only shared workspaces.

There are no shared workspaces created with new desktop accounts. Only My Workspace is created with each user, and those are not shared. Those are designed to be test beds or sandboxes to play in. Do NOT encourage users to publish there and then share via email or URL. That is a NIGHTMARE to administer, especially if someone leaves. Require everyone to publish production workspaces in Share Workspaces.

Hi, @Anonymous

You can try assigning workspaces to capacities from the admin portal.

Capacity admins, along with Power BI admins and global administrators, can bulk assign workspaces in the premium capacity management section of the admin portal. When you manage a capacity, you see a Workspaces assigned to this capacity section that allows you to assign workspaces.

Workspaces by users: When you assign workspaces by user, or group, all the workspaces owned by those users are assigned to Premium capacity, including the user's personal workspace.

Specific workspaces: Enter the name of a specific workspace to assign to the selected capacity.

The entire organization's workspaces: Assigning the entire organization's workspaces to Premium capacity assigns all workspaces and My Workspaces, in your organization, to this Premium capacity. In addition, all current and future users will have the permission to reassign individual workspaces to this capacity.

Please refer to the following document about assign a workspace to a capacity to see if it helps you.
