Auto Refresh Unattended

Hi All,

As the data is the company I work for I need the Power Bi service to refresh every morning even if I am not logged in. The data sources are Azure SQL databases. I have tried using personal and on premise gateways and also deleting the gateways. If I log into the web and click refresh it works on problem. So I am not sure what it is that I have missed.

Hi @Anonymous

Gateway-personl mode runs as an application, you need to open the app, then sign in it with power bi account. if so, your data gateway will display "online" status.

Besides, go to "Manage gateways" settings, make sure gateway is online and datasources are added. Then update the data source credentials.

As said here "As the data is the company I work for I need the Power Bi service to refresh every morning even if I am not logged in",

I would recommend you to use the on-premises gateway(known as Enterprise Gateway) in this scenario, with the on-premises Gateway you can run the gateway as a service or in admin mode and don't need to log in every time.

In order to use the Enterprise Gateway, just make sure you have installed and configure the on-premises gateway correctly and add all the data sources used within your dataset to the on-premises gateway on Power BI service.

Hi there

As per the message the Gateway was offline when it was trying to refresh.

I would suggest that the On-Premise Data Gateway gets installed in Enterprise Mode, and is installed on a Server that is always on and never is shut down.
