Area chart summing up a count of rows

Hi all,

I am trying to create an area chart where the amount of rows are being count for each month and summed up with the count of the previous month.

ProductID         | EntryDateID

1                       | 20180720

54                     | 20180721

75                     | 20180810

125                   | 20180821

231                   | 20180909

The data above will result in an area chart where the month July will show a value of 2, August will result in a value of 4 (2 products from July + 2 new products made in August) and September will result in a value of 5. So the latest month will have the value of the total count of your records.

Do I need to make a new measured column to achieve this?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @v-jiascu-msft,

I solved the problem by using the quick measure 'Running totals'. This will sum up the count of rows for each month which im getting out of my date dimension.

Now the issue is when you filter on the last 2 months, are you able to create a starting point where the sum value of the previous months are used?

Kind regards,

Gio

Hi @Anonymous,

In order to leverage the power of Time intelligence functions, I would suggest you create a date table. Please check out the demo in the attachment.

Measure =
CALCULATE (
    COUNT ( Table1[ProductID] ),
    FILTER (
        ALL ( 'Calendar'[Date] ),
        'Calendar'[Date] <= MIN ( 'Table1'[EntryDate] )
    )
)

Hi @Anonymous,

I think that's a different question. Is it based on the same data here? If not, please provide a sample.
