App permission with shared dataset and RLS

1. Workspace "Main" contains

- Dataset Main

- Report Main

- App Main

* Dataset Main is a shared data which will be re-used in other workspaces. It also has RLS which should be applied to Sales Groups of the App Sales below.

* Users (management team) of the App Main can access data without any restriciton.

2. Work "Sales" contains

- Shared dataset Main from the Workspace "Main"

- Report Sales (trimmed down version of Report Main)

- App Sales

* Sales Team should only access the App Sales, not the App Main.

* Sales Team has different Sales Groups and each group member should only see their group's data. This is why I set up RLS of the Main Dataset.

Question: How to give Sales Team permission to view the App Sales with RLS but not be able to view the App Main even they have the App Main link?

Hello @mybarbie9917

if you don't want the salespeople to access the main app then simply don't give them access to the app moreover they both are different apps so to access the other app you will require permissions for it and also don't share with unnecessary users.

Thanks @NimaiAhluwalia. However, adding users, who are in RSL group of shared dataset, to the Permissions section of the Sales App is not enough for them see app properly as the Sales app is connected to a shared dataset with RSL.

I figured out how to perform the task with the following steps.

1. From dataset Main, choose "Manage permissions", add the users and set "Read" permission.

2. Under Permissions tab of the Sales App, add the members of Sales Team. Alternatively, you can add the users as "View" under "Access" section of the Sales Workspace.

Hello @mybarbie9917

Correct, As I mentioned before don't give access to unwanted users.
