Access to PBI APP

Hi all,

just a quick question:

As far as I do understand, the Workspace and the App are seperate places to be administrated, or?

It's a bit confusing, as I have to add people to the workspace, and then seperately to the App. Under permission in the app it's stating on the other hand "Users and groups with access to this workspace can access this app".

Or does it mean i don't have to maintain it at all, delete everybody from the app permission and rely on the workspace administration?

Hi @NovaBI,

the main difference in my opinion for a workspace and App are the permissions. Users in the workspace can edit the items (except if they have the Viewer role, which is read-only), and users in the App only have read access (see Roles in workspaces for more info).

And it is true, users in the workspace already have access to the App, so you don't need to add them in the permissions tab.

You can find more info here: End user apps.

Hi @NovaBI ,

the Apps are nothing more than a nice "GUI" for your app Workspaces :). Means that the App which was created from a app workspace can be managed in the app workspace :).

@KBO

thanks for the answer.

But why is there an additonal "Permission" tab when updating the app? That makes no sense then.
