power BI connection and automation

hi, i have a company-wide database which is connected to multiple systems and receives huge amounts of data. my job is to make dashboards on a daily basis and analyze them. we have already made templates for the dashboards. is there any way that the entire process of fetching the required columns, transforming them and implementing the changes can be automated using DAX or any other tool? our reports need to be generated on a daily basis, and we cannot always do that manually. i need to know to what extent can power BI dashboards be automated, be it using DAX formulas.

    Hi Vrinda-0902

Thank you for contacting the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.

Yes, Power BI fully supports automation for dashboard generation. While DAX is primarily used for data modeling and analytical calculations within reports, the automation of data extraction, transformation, and refresh processes is best achieved using Power Query, Dataflows, and Power Automate. Power Query enables automated data connections and transformations from multiple sources, while Dataflows allow these transformations to be centralized and reused across different reports.

By leveraging Power Automate or Azure Data Factory to orchestrate dataset refreshes, and by configuring scheduled or incremental refreshes in the Power BI Service, you can ensure that dashboards update automatically on a daily basis. When combined with predefined templates, this approach enables a fully automated, consistent, and maintenance-free dashboard generation process without any manual intervention.
