VARCHAR(8000)

When mirroring from Azure SQL to Fabric all Varchar columns are created on the mirrored database as VARCHAR(8000) instead of preserving their original sizes. Is this by design?

It's a current documented limitation. The hope is that this will be lifted.

I do see documentation of the limit of size for VARCHAR fields being 8000 and VARCHAR(MAX) is in public preview for warehouses but I can't find documentation that states that ALL FIELDS will be converted to VARCHAR(8000) during mirroring. Can you please point me to that doc?
