Can not connect to the server
Hi Kavi_9907 ,
Thanks for sharing the update.
The error you are now seeing "Loading assembly file 'System.EnterpriseServices, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' failed for data source type 'SQL'" is usually related to missing or corrupted .NET Framework components that Power BI depends on. You can try the following:
-
Ensure that the .NET Framework is properly installed and up to date on your machine. Repair or reinstall the .NET Framework if required.
Microsoft provides .Repair the .NET Framework - .NET Framework | Microsoft Learn.
.NET Framework & Windows OS versions - .NET Framework | Microsoft Learn -
Make sure Windows and Power BI Desktop are updated to the latest versions.
-
Clear saved data source credentials from Data Source Settings -> Edit Permissions, then re-enter the SQL credentials.
-
If the issue persists, try reinstalling Power BI Desktop after repairing .NET.

Hi Kavi_9907 ,
Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Fabric Community and sharing the details.
The error you are seeing is a Kerberos-related issue that usually occurs with SQL Server authentication.
You can try these steps:
-
First, update the server name in Data Source Settings if the SQL Server’s IP or hostname has changed, and check if the connection works.
-
If that doesn’t resolve it, go to Data Source Settings -> Edit Permissions -> Credentials -> Edit, switch to Database, and re-enter the SQL credentials for the affected database.
-
If the issue still persists, refresh both the server and database credentials instead of only updating the names.
