error occurred: out of memory - unable to render the report

I built a paginated report using PBI data set. However, it does not render the report. Hence, I built a tabular model using AAS.

I rebuilt the report on AAS model. While in design mode, I could run the query by opening the dataset and it renders the data.

In report builder as well as on PBIRS, when I run the report, I am able to select the parameters. This means it connects to my AAS model. However, when I click "view Reports" button from Power BI report builder, it just does not render. It gives me out of memory error. Not sure if I am missing any step. Any help is appreciated.

Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown.

@RSSapre - Very little information to go on. You could check the Issues forum here:

DAX For Humans

DAX is easy, CALCULATE makes DAX hard...

Hi Greg,

Thank you for the response. Let me know what information is needed and hopefully, I can provide it.

Here are the steps I took.

  1. Downloaded Power BI Report Builder from regular website to develop a paginated report.
  2. Have AAS and a model built.
  3. Opned Power BI Report Builder to develop a paginated report
  4. Defined Data Source as my AAS model
    1. Does not take my window's credentials, hence choose second options "use this credential"
  5. Define data set and parameters
  6. I can run the query to see data returns
  7. Add tablix and data fields to test the report
  8. Run the report in Power BI report builder to test
  9. Select parameters and press "View Report" button
  10.  Keeps running for few minutes and then gives "out of memory" error as shown in the previous post.

I am not sure if I need to down load Report builder from PBIRS and use it. However, I feel that Power BI Report Builder should work.

Do I need to enable Kerberos delegation?

Thanks,

Raj

Update -

It appears that the number of fields is causing the problem. I have 31 fields and not a large dataset retrieval based on the parameters.

I can run the exact same report when use data source as Power BI Service. Unfortunately it is not supported on Power BI Report Server, hence, has to go through AAS route.
