Update Notifications in Desktop for Report Server

The Desktop application notifies users when an update is available.  Is Desktop for Report Server supposed to display notifications to users when the a new version of Report Server is released?

 

I have October 2017 Desktop installed, and have not seen a notification for the March 2018 version. I'm just wondering if someone has put a block internally on our firewall and that is why I haven't seen a notification.

    1. Check your Power BI Setting.

     

    OR

     

    2. Check firewall / antivirus setting, if they are blocking.

        Yes.  We recently installed the March 2018 version of Report Server in a test environment. I had downloaded Desktop for Report Server before the test environment was available so that I could see if there were differences between Desktop for cloud and Desktop for Report Server in the application interface.
