Report server installation and prerequisites

Hi All,

Our company is building a product in which power bi will be used for the front end reporting part. The idea is we are having psotgresql server and we will be connecting to power bi . We will be hosting the power bi server on premises and using that to host the final dashboard. What kind of license we need to take for this .

Our product might have around 400-500 end users per each client .

Can someone help in this regard.

Hi Gosbel,

Cloud is not a option for us . Only on premises is possible. Also user base could be 100-150 users and not 500 .

For the on-prem use you describe you would probably need SQL Enterprise with Software Assurance (see https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/report-server/get-started#licensing-power-bi-report-serve... ) which might be expensive for that size of user base. If you can host your reporting in the cloud a shared premium capacity with app embedding might be more cost effective.
