Report Server version comparison (August vs May 2017) s
Is there a way I can install the August 2017 release and retain the May 2017 release.
I need to test compare both versions for any regression before we release the new version for our user base to use?.

Unfortunately not, while it is a preview, to windows it is the new version of the same product. Can't be installed side by side, only upgraded.
Note that you can detach and copy/move the catalog database between servers if you want to try multiple editions at the same time for testing.
